Online Shopping is quick and convenient, which can provide you with savings from a few
dollars / pounds / Euros to many thousands depend on you are going to buy a book or a car on the Internet.
The reason things are cheaper on the Net is that a company can operate with lower overheads by trading online, with no
expensive high street premises to rent, less administration and a fewer employees. The cost savings can be made and pass straight on to the consumers.
Shopping on the Internet can make life easier, all you need is a Credit Card, Debit Card or a kind of online payment method, and this should be no riskier than buying by mail order or on the phone.
To take advantage of shopping online, you will need a
latest version of browser or at least a browser that supports scripting and 128-bit encryption. Shopping carts and secured sites use scripting to check your submit form details and processing online credit card transaction through SSL -
Secure Socket Layer with high 128-bit encryption.
Secured Transaction
When you visit a secure Web site, it automatically sends you its certificate. (A certificate is a statement guaranteeing the identity of a person or the security of a Web site.)
If you are using the Microsoft Explorer or the Netscape Communicator browser, a lock icon is displayed on the status bar.
You can also verify that the address of the document you are accessing begins with https:// (secure hypertext transfer protocol).
Do not submit any information if you notice a broken key or an open lock on you screen: these symbols indicate that the transaction is not secure.
You may have some extra protection if you pay by credit card for goods
and services. If you have a claim against the seller for breach of contract or misrepresentation - for example, if goods were not supplied, or were faulty - you may also have a claim against your credit card issuer. This could also be useful if the seller goes out of business.
Please note that Debit Cards may not provide the same protection as Credit Cards.
If someone uses your payment card (including debit, credit, charge or store cards) fraudulently to shop on the internet without your permission, you can cancel the payment and your card issuer must arrange for your account to be re-credited in full.
